James Dondero has pioneered many business ventures, among them being NexPoint, a company specializing in real estate.
As a company and under the leadership of Mr. Dondero, NexPoint has been able to diversify and focus its investments in private and public real estate investment trusts (REITs). Other areas which the company is focused on are a closed-end fund, tax-advantaged real estate vehicles, etc.
He is responsible for several other businesses in NexPoint Advisors. James Dondero’s work description within NexPoint involves the role he plays as a portfolio manager whereby he managed the Close-end fund and the Strategic Opportunities Fund. James Dondero’s leadership roles are also felt across several other REITS within the company.
Mr. James Dondero began his career Journey in 1984 when he was hired to work for Morgan Guaranty Training Program. He worked as an employee for other companies like American Express, where he worked as Portfolio Manager until 1989 before moving to Protective Life as Chief Investment Officer, a position he served until 1993 when he left to finally branch out on his own by founding Highland Capital Management.
One of the most significant contributors to his career achievements is the academic accomplishments he has had. He holds a Beta Gamma Sigma and Beta Alpha psi in Accounting and Finance from the University of Virginia, McIntire School of Commerce. Other academic certificated that James Dondero has to his name are; Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), and Certified Management Accountant (CPA).
Because of his business achievements, James has had a chance to gain recognition as the 2018 ReuNight Honorary Chair. Further, he is also a renowned philanthropist in Texas as he is dedicated to helping the community in various programs.
